Manifold GIS (Release 9) is a Windows desktop application for geographic information systems, spatial data engineering, ETL, database work, and data science. It is aimed at individual users, professionals, organizations, and enterprise teams that need advanced spatial analysis alongside database and automation capabilities. The Professional edition combines desktop GIS, spatial SQL, parallel CPU and GPU processing, geoprocessing, georeferencing, scripting, and support for vector, raster, imagery, and table data.

The edition structure separates desktop analysis from server-oriented publishing. Release 9 Professional covers core GIS, ETL, and data science work. Release 9 Universal adds Manifold Server for map publishing and data sharing, while Release 9 Server provides unlimited Manifold Server, HTTP map serving, TCP data sharing, and multiple simultaneous sessions. The published licensing model is fully paid rather than subscription-based. Manifold Viewer is a separate free, read-only product, not a full-featured edition of Release 9.

Integration breadth is a notable strength for teams working across database and geospatial systems. Manifold GIS connects with Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL/PostGIS, MySQL, IBM DB2, ESRI geodatabases, WMS, and WFS. It also supports field data collection through ODK, Enketo, and KoBo web standards, extending its workflow beyond desktop analysis. Choose it when high-performance Windows processing, broad data support, spatial SQL, and server publishing matter. Organizations requiring macOS or mobile apps, or users seeking a full-featured free GIS, should look elsewhere.
