Our verdict on Mangayomi
Mangayomi is a free, open-source app for reading manga, webtoons, comics, and novels, with additional support for watching anime and movies. It is aimed at individual readers who want one app across Android, iOS, macOS, Linux, and Windows. Local content reading and library categories make it suitable for readers who want to organize material on their devices, while its configurable reader offers multiple viewers and reading directions.
The standout is its breadth across reading formats and platforms, paired with reading controls rather than a single fixed presentation. Light and dark themes are available, and users can track manga and anime through MyAnimeList, AniList, SIMKL, Trakt, and Kitsu. That combination may suit readers who keep a library and tracking activity across services. The product is also open source, and the published details describe a free app rather than a tiered plan structure.
For offline storage, Mangayomi can create local backups, which users can store with a cloud service of their choice. That is distinct from automatic cloud sync, which is not verified. Archive formats and panel-by-panel mode are also not specified, so readers who need a particular file format or that viewing style should check before choosing it. Pick Mangayomi for free, cross-platform reading with configurable controls, categories, tracking, and local backups; look elsewhere if automatic sync or a specific archive or panel-viewing feature is essential.
