Mailbakup is a suite of desktop utilities for saving webmail and Maildir data to local storage. It is suited to individuals, small businesses and organizations that need export-focused email backup across Gmail, Google Apps, Hotmail, Yahoo, AOL, Office 365, Outlook.com or Maildir files. Depending on the tool, it can also back up contacts, calendars, Drive data and attachments. Windows and macOS are supported, with email, chat and phone support available around the clock.

The published plans show a one-time pricing model rather than a subscription service. Google Apps Backup Tool costs $25 and supports single or domain accounts, with exports to PST, EML, MSG and MBOX plus contacts, calendars and Drive data. Outlook.com Backup Tool costs $39 and adds exports to PST, MSG, EML, PDF, MBOX, ICS and VCF, along with date filtering and preservation of email properties and folder structure. Maildir Backup Tool costs $49 and handles Maildir and Maildir++ files, exporting to PST, PDF, MBOX, MSG, HTML and EML with date filtering and attachments. These are separate utilities, so the right purchase depends on the source being backed up.

For routine desktop exports, Mailbakup covers practical controls: users can select folders or labels, filter by date range, back up multiple accounts, run incremental backups for newly arrived emails, pause and resume jobs, preserve mailbox hierarchy and delete downloaded messages from the server. The breadth of export formats is useful when local files need to work with different email or document workflows. It is less suited to buyers seeking a unified subscription service or a clearly documented restore system. Choose it for budget-conscious, format-flexible desktop exports; consider an alternative if centralized backup management or restore depth is the priority.
