Our verdict on MaeMusic

MaeMusic is a digital sheet-music reader and library for musicians who want to keep scores, practice tools and performance controls in one app. It supports web, iOS, Android, macOS and Windows, and is positioned for solo players and small groups. Scores can be brought in from device files, Google Drive, Dropbox or a built-in library, then arranged into collections and setlists. For players who work across devices or annotate and manage their own repertoire, it covers more than simple page display.

The feature set spans score reading and practice: users can mark up pages with a pencil, highlighter and musical stamps, turn pages with a Bluetooth pedal, and use a metronome, tuner and piano. MaeMusic also describes optical music recognition to convert PDFs into playable scores, with playback, transposition and looping. Digital scores can be exported as MusicXML or MIDI. Dropbox and Google Drive connect both for importing and for syncing scores and annotations; this makes its ecosystem fit especially relevant for musicians already using those services. Offline access is listed, alongside cloud sync.

MaeMusic uses a freemium model. The Free plan includes annotations and 49 stamps, setlists and collections, cloud sync and practice tools, while the published Pro features add unlimited song uploads, unlimited MusicXML digital scores, unlimited cloud sync and recordings, plus future updates and features. Pro is described as a one-time purchase, which may suit someone seeking a paid upgrade rather than a recurring plan, but the purchase amount is not stated. The free tier has library limits, and buyers focused on purchasing individual scores should look elsewhere: MaeMusic is a reader and library, not a score marketplace. It is most relevant to players who want to bring in, organize and work with their own scores.
