Our verdict on Ludic

Ludic turns natural-language game ideas into browser-playable prototypes, with an intermediate planning step for reviewing and adjusting the game loop and rules. It is aimed at hobbyists, indie developers, educators and small teams exploring interactive concepts. The browser-based workflow also supports iteration on mechanics, project management, publishing to the Ludic store and sharing by link. It fits creators focused on web prototypes; those seeking native desktop or mobile builds should look elsewhere.

The plan structure matters because there is no free plan for creating and saving games: the free account is for playing, browsing and buying. Creator costs £12.50 per month on annual billing and includes AI-assisted arcade prototype generation, monthly AI credits and full commercial rights; supported HTML5 commercial exports carry a fee. Pro is £25 per month annually, adding a significantly larger AI allowance, unlimited projects and priority prototype generation, while including supported HTML5 exports. Studio is £83.33 per month annually, with the highest standard AI and project allowances, priority support and three commercial exports included monthly. Enterprise has custom compute and procurement discussions, with prototype planning and support.

Ludic's strongest fit is a creator who wants to inspect a structured plan before generation, revise direction with AI, and publish or export supported browser games. Reference images or video can be added to a brief where supported. Publishing targets include the Ludic store, shareable links and self-hosted HTML5; the platform is web-based and cloud-deployed, with email support. The export path is narrower than a general multi-platform release workflow, and collaboration is not supported. Choose it for solo or small-team browser prototyping; choose another tool if native builds or team collaboration are central requirements.
