Our verdict on Lorex Connect
Lorex Connect is an app for monitoring and managing compatible Lorex cameras and security systems, with iOS, Android, and web access. It suits existing Lorex users who want live viewing, saved-recording playback, camera controls, alerts, and sharing in one place. The app itself is no-cost, while cloud backup is optional; compatibility varies by camera or system, so buyers should check that their equipment works with the features they want.
Local and cloud recording serve different needs here. Supported cameras can record to microSD, which users can manage in the app. Connect Cloud+ backs up smart motion event clips for remote access, rather than providing continuous cloud recording, and cloud recording is limited to up to 2K. Cloud+ is only for compatible Lorex Connect Wi-Fi cameras; recorders and wired cameras connected to recorders are not supported. Buyers who need continuous cloud footage or use those excluded camera types should consider another option.
According to the published plans, Single Camera Cloud+ costs $5.99 per camera monthly or $59.99 yearly; both include smart motion event storage and 60-day cloud retention. Multi-Camera costs $16.99 monthly or $169.99 yearly, with the same listed storage and retention highlights. Detection settings include motion zones and sensitivity, while manual recording and snapshots are available from live view. Alexa support applies to select compatible products, and smart-display compatibility depends on the specific camera or system. Lorex Connect is a fit for Lorex owners who want app and web access with optional event backup; buyers seeking broader camera compatibility or continuous cloud recording should look elsewhere.
