LogicalDOC is an enterprise document management system for organizations that need to store, organize, search, share, and govern business documents. It suits teams that need more than file storage, particularly where version control, permissions, audit trails, workflows, retention policies, and OCR are part of document operations. Access spans web, Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS, Android, APIs, self-hosting, and a hosted SaaS edition.
The Community plan is free, open source, licensed under GNU LGPL version 3, and community-supported. Business and Enterprise are commercial editions with quotation-based pricing, while Enterprise also offers a demo. Cloud is the hosted SaaS edition, likewise available through quotation and a demo. The plan structure gives organizations a free route into the platform while preserving commercial options for teams that prefer vendor-backed editions or hosted deployment. Integrations include Microsoft Outlook, Google Drive, OnlyOffice, DocuSign, Google Calendar, REST API, and SOAP API.
LogicalDOC’s main strength is the depth of its document governance toolkit. Full-text indexing, OCR, metadata, templates, custom attributes, version comparison and rollback, role-based access control, activity logging, workflow approvals, retention policies, deadline notifications, and secure sharing address the document lifecycle from capture through controlled distribution. REST, SOAP, and GraphQL APIs support connection to other systems. Organizations seeking open-source control, self-hosting, and detailed governance should consider LogicalDOC. Teams that only need lightweight file storage or prefer a published paid price may find its commercial buying process and feature breadth less suitable.
