Our verdict on Linkman

Linkman is a Windows bookmark manager from Outertech for people who need to organize and maintain large local collections of links. It stores bookmarks in XML databases and supports folders, keywords, browser imports, password protection, backups, duplicate detection, and link checking. Browser integration covers Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Internet Explorer, and Opera, while the Chrome extension adds a browser-based entry point. The product is particularly suited to Windows users who prefer a structured desktop library over a web-based bookmark service.

Pricing is straightforward. Linkman Lite is free for private, non-commercial use and supports up to 10,000 bookmarks, browser integration, and an XML database. Linkman Pro costs $24.95 as a one-time purchase and adds unlimited bookmarks, synchronization across multiple computers, search and replace, dead-link and page-movement checking, and portable USB installation. The published plans make Lite a practical starting point for smaller personal collections, while Pro is the more suitable choice for extensive libraries or users working across more than one computer.

Linkman’s standout area is collection maintenance rather than broad platform coverage. Search supports operators, wildcards, and phrases, and link checks can identify dead URLs, page movements, and major content changes. Duplicate detection and backup workflows also help keep a local library organized over time. Dropbox, Google Drive, Microsoft OneDrive, and other listed storage services can fit into backup workflows. The trade-off is a Windows-centered experience without mobile apps, full-text search, or web archiving. Choose Linkman for deep local organization and link upkeep; choose an alternative if mobile access or archived web content is central to your workflow.
