Lightyear is a cloud-based accounts payable, purchasing and expense management platform for SME and larger finance teams. It combines AI invoice and line-item extraction with email, upload and mobile document capture, configurable multi-tier approvals, purchase order creation, supplier statement reconciliation, bookkeeping synchronization, document archiving and reporting. Mobile bill approvals and expense submission support teams that need finance processes to work beyond the desktop, while multi-entity account structures extend the platform across more complex organizations.

According to the published USA pricing page, Essentials costs $199 per month and includes purchase orders, expense management, line data extraction by default, automated approval workflows, automatic statement reconciliation, and live chat, email and telephone support. Standard costs $319 per month and adds goods received notes, three-way purchase order matching and inventory, alongside all Essentials features. Professional includes all Standard features, white labelling and a dedicated account manager; enterprise single sign-on is available at additional charge and setup. A 30-day free trial is available, but there is no free plan. Accounting integrations may also incur an additional monthly fee.

Lightyear’s breadth is its main differentiator for teams that want invoice capture, purchasing controls, approval routing and reconciliation in one workflow. It supports web, iOS and Android, and lists integrations with Xero, QuickBooks Online, NetSuite, MYOB AccountRight, MYOB Acumatica, Sage Business Cloud, Sage Intacct, AccountsIQ, iplicit, Fuelsoft, WCBS and Sage 50 / 200. Growing AP teams should consider it when multi-step processing and three-way matching matter; smaller teams seeking a lower-cost or free starting point should look elsewhere.
