Layerbase MySQL provides managed MySQL database provisioning for developers working across hosted, local, and self-hosted environments. Databases can run in Layerbase Cloud, locally through Layerbase Desktop, or on user infrastructure through the Layerbase CLI. Its feature set targets WordPress-style applications, Rails and Laravel workloads, existing MySQL schemas, serverless applications, and development environments that need standard MySQL client compatibility.

Pricing is straightforward for MySQL users. The Solo plan costs $5 per month and includes two databases, 10 GB of storage, a 768 MB always-on pool, and daily backups with seven-day retention. Pro costs $15 per month, raises capacity to 10 databases and 25 GB of storage, adds a 1.5 GB / 1 vCPU pool, and includes 30-day backups. Dedicated costs $35 per server per month and provides a single-tenant, always-on, region-pinned VM with hourly backups and included egress. The Free plan includes two databases and 5 GB of storage for supported engines, but MySQL is not included. A seven-day free trial is available.

Layerbase MySQL fits teams that value development flexibility and familiar tooling. Connection pooling, direct connections, copy-on-write branching, a web SQL console, TLS enabled by default, IP allowlisting, and automated backups support common development and deployment workflows. Integrations include Prisma, Drizzle, MySQL CLI, mysqldump, MySQL Workbench, DBeaver, and the PlanetScale serverless driver. The PlanetScale-compatible serverless HTTP endpoint broadens its fit for serverless applications. Buyers needing MySQL on a free tier, point-in-time restore, or private networking should consider an alternative; Layerbase is better suited to developers who want predictable paid pricing and control over where databases run.
