Layerbase Cloud ClickHouse provides managed, serverless ClickHouse databases for real-time analytics, observability, time-series workloads, dashboards, and reporting that have outgrown PostgreSQL. It is aimed at developers and teams that want hosted ClickHouse without provisioning a cluster or managing cloud infrastructure. The service runs through web and API access, with native ClickHouse and HTTP endpoints, a browser-based SQL console, TLS-encrypted connections, and version selection when creating a database. Integrations include clickhouse-client, JDBC, Python clickhouse-client, clickhouse-driver, and ch-go.

Pricing is straightforward once the plan scope is separated. The Free plan costs $0 per month and includes 2 databases and 5 GB of storage, but does not include ClickHouse. Solo costs $5 per month and adds 10 GB of storage plus a 768 MB always-on pool, but also does not include ClickHouse. ClickHouse starts with Pro at $15 per month, which includes 10 databases, 25 GB of storage, a 1.5 GB / 1 vCPU always-on pool, and 30-day backups. Dedicated costs $35 per server per month and adds a private single-tenant VM, all engines including ClickHouse, region pinning, and hourly backups. A 7-day free trial is available.

The strongest fit is a budget-conscious team that values managed provisioning, database branching, and several connection paths without operating its own cluster. Pro's copy-on-write branching, automatic daily backups, and always-on capacity pool support development and ongoing workloads, while IP allowlisting and TLS-encrypted connections add useful access controls. The trade-off is platform breadth: shared-fleet hosting currently uses one United States region, and dedicated servers offer United States East or West. Teams needing broader regional coverage or clearly documented autoscaling should compare alternatives. Layerbase is most suitable when a focused serverless ClickHouse deployment matters more than a mature, multi-region platform.

Layerbase Cloud ClickHouse pros and cons

  • Where it wins
    • Managed provisioning avoids cluster setup and cloud infrastructure management
    • Native, HTTP, browser SQL console, and client-library access
    • Pro includes branching, daily backups, and 30-day retention
  • Where it doesn't
    • ClickHouse is available only on the Pro plan or higher
    • Shared-fleet hosting currently operates in one US region
    • The official pages do not state autoscaling behavior
