LANState is Windows software for network administrators who need to discover and visualize devices on a local network. Its agentless scanning identifies hosts and topology, then presents devices with icons and links on a network map. Host and service monitoring, SNMP switch connection tables, statistics, reports, and alerts by email, SMS, sound, or screen message cover the main needs of small network teams. Remote Windows management actions include accessing device information, restarting services, and shutting down computers without installing client software on remote computers.

The product has a free usage tier for up to 25 hosts, plus a separate 30-day trial limited to 50 hosts. The Standard 50-host plan costs $99.95 as a one-time license and includes network mapping, host monitoring, and network administration. Pro plans cost $199.95 for 100 hosts, $299.95 for 200, $399.95 for 500, $599.95 for 1,000, and $799.95 for unlimited hosts. Pro adds a web interface, history trends and charts, Microsoft Visio export, SNMP functions, and Syslog support. A $1,499.95 Site License removes the host-count limit for one physical site and allows installation on up to three computers; the $2,999.95 Enterprise License supports any organizational site and up to seven computers.

LANState fits teams that want topology mapping and monitoring without deploying agents across remote computers. Its discovery and monitoring coverage includes SNMP, LLDP, UPnP, ICMP, NetBIOS, ARP, WMI, HTTP, FTP, and Syslog, while Pro provides remote map access and Visio export. The tradeoff is scope: it runs only on Windows and is oriented toward local networks. Organizations needing broader network coverage or a platform beyond Windows should consider an alternative. For a small Windows-based environment, the free tier and lifetime licensing provide a clear path from basic discovery to larger host counts.
