KubeSphere Backup is a cloud-based Disaster-Recovery-as-a-Service product for hybrid-cloud Kubernetes environments. It protects Kubernetes application resources, cluster resources, and persistent volumes across clusters, cloud providers, locations, and storage repositories. Teams can configure scheduled or instant backup and recovery plans through a web console, making it suited to organizations that want Kubernetes protection without deploying and maintaining their own backup infrastructure.

Its freemium structure gives smaller teams a clear starting point. The Free plan includes 2 protected applications, 3-day maximum retention, a 10 GB hosted repository, and community support. Basic costs $65 per month and expands capacity to 100 protected applications, 14-day retention, 100 GB of hosted repository storage, and 3 resource templates. Standard costs $200 per month and adds 500 protected applications, 30-day retention, 500 GB of hosted repository storage, and database consistency protection. Enterprise costs $340 per month and provides 1,500 protected applications, 90-day retention, 1 TB of hosted repository storage, unlimited resource templates, and database consistency protection.

The feature set is focused on Kubernetes operations: persistent volumes can be backed up through copied volumes or CSI snapshots, while application resources can be protected by namespace. Cross-cloud and multi-cluster disaster recovery, S3-compatible object-storage repositories, and cross-cloud container data migration broaden its use across distributed environments. The main trade-off is access: the platform is web-only, and the published plan highlights provide limited detail about additional feature differences. Choose KubeSphere Backup for a free Kubernetes entry tier, scheduled or instant protection, and cross-cloud recovery. Teams requiring a non-web deployment model or more fully documented tier distinctions should consider another option.
