Kubermatic KubeOne review
A command-line toolkit for provisioning, upgrading, repairing, and retiring individual clusters.

Kubermatic KubeOne is an open-source command-line tool for infrastructure and platform teams that deploy and operate individual Kubernetes clusters. It covers provisioning, installation, upgrades, repair, reconciliation, and decommissioning across public cloud, on-premises, bare-metal, edge, and other SSH-reachable infrastructure. Highly available control-plane deployment, declarative YAML cluster definitions, and private-registry operation make it suited to teams that want lifecycle automation while retaining control of their environments.
Its strongest fit is breadth of infrastructure support combined with infrastructure-as-code integration. KubeOne supports AWS, Azure, DigitalOcean, GCP, Hetzner Cloud, KubeVirt, Nutanix, OpenStack, VMware Cloud Director, VMware vSphere, on-premises infrastructure, bare metal, edge environments, and SSH-reachable systems. Terraform, Cluster API, Kubermatic machine-controller, and Kubermatic operating-system-manager integrations extend its place in existing platform workflows. Air-gapped and private-registry operation also support environments where external connectivity is restricted.
The product's main boundary is its single-cluster operating model. KubeOne manages one cluster at a time from the command line, so organizations seeking centralized multi-cluster management should look to a different product in the Kubermatic portfolio. The control plane is customer-managed, which fits teams prepared to own infrastructure operations but may be less suitable for organizations seeking a fully managed Kubernetes service. The open-source plan is Apache-2.0 licensed and free, while commercial business-critical support is available separately. Choose KubeOne for open-source, declarative lifecycle automation across varied infrastructure; choose an alternative when centralized multi-cluster administration is the primary requirement.
