KIX is an open-source service management platform for IT departments, service desks, enterprise service management teams and technical customer support organizations. It combines ticket management with searchable communication history, list and Kanban views, asset and configuration management through a CMDB, service catalogs, contracts, SLA management, FAQs, knowledge bases and a self-service portal. Deployment options cover cloud, on-premises, web, iOS, Android, API and self-hosted environments, making it a fit for organizations that need ITSM breadth without committing to a cloud-only model.
Pricing is structured around two main editions. KIX Start is free of charge as an on-premises edition, but provides limited functionality and includes no support or maintenance. KIX Pro Business begins at €33 per agent per month, billed monthly, and adds a cloud app option, a browser-based service system, plus support and maintenance. KIX Pro Enterprise offers cloud deployment from 30 agents and on-premises deployment from 250 agents, with pricing on request and a higher service and support level. The published plans suit teams that want to begin with a free deployment or move to supported commercial service as requirements grow.
Its strongest functional advantage is the combination of structured ITSM and field operations. Configurable workflows, rules, templates, ticket actions and approval handling support governed service processes, while reporting dashboards and service KPI reporting help track performance. REST APIs and connectors support database systems, web services, inventory systems, baramundi, opsi and Deskcenter; reporting integrations include Microsoft Power BI, SAP Crystal Reports, Tableau and Qlik. The optional Field Service App supports offline ticket and work-order processing on iOS and Android. KIX should appeal to organizations prioritizing open-source control, CMDB depth and mobile service work. Teams seeking a highly supported starting experience may find KIX Start too limited and should consider a paid tier instead.
