- No-code anomaly detection, alerting, reporting, and dashboard embedding.

Our verdict on Kibana
Kibana is an open-source web interface for querying, analyzing, visualizing, and managing Elasticsearch data. It suits observability data visualization teams that need interactive dashboards, exploration tools, maps, alerts, reporting, and APIs in one environment. The product supports web, API, and self-hosted use, with workflows spanning logs, metrics, traces, events, and other Elasticsearch-connected data. Teams can run it with a self-managed Elastic Stack or choose Elastic Cloud Hosted deployments across AWS, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud.
Pricing separates the free, self-managed option from Elastic Cloud Hosted tiers. Free and open includes the Kibana interface with a self-managed Elastic Stack and community support. Standard starts at $99 per month and adds hosted deployment, dashboards and visualizations, maps, alerting, and web-based support. Gold is $114 per month and adds reporting, third-party alerting actions, Watcher, and multi-stack monitoring. Platinum is $131 per month, adding advanced security, machine-learning anomaly detection, supervised learning, and cross-cluster replication. Enterprise is $184 per month and adds Elastic Maps Server, cross-cluster search, AI-assisted capabilities, and premium support. The hosted prices are resource-based rather than per-user.
Kibana’s main strength is breadth around Elasticsearch exploration and observability workflows. Its Discover interface supports querying and exploration, while dashboards can combine multiple visualization types and filters. Geospatial layers, iframe embedding, scheduled PDF and CSV reports, saved-object APIs, and downstream alert actions extend its use beyond internal monitoring screens. Integrations include Elastic Agent, Logstash, Beats, OpenTelemetry, cloud services, Amazon S3, Amazon ECS, web crawler, content connectors, and APIs. Choose Kibana when Elasticsearch is central to the workflow and the team values extensibility, maps, anomaly detection, and alerting. Consider an alternative when the priority is a visualization tool independent of the Elastic ecosystem or a fully managed experience without self-managed infrastructure responsibilities.
