KEXI review
A capable free visual database client for forms, queries, reports, and common SQL databases.

KEXI is a free, open-source visual database application for creating, managing, querying, and presenting data. It suits individuals and teams that want forms-based database work without a paid license, particularly when visual table, query, form, and report designers are more useful than an advanced database development environment. KEXI runs on Windows, macOS, Linux, and Android, with SQLite available as built-in file-based storage.
Its main strength is the breadth of visual work available in one desktop client. The visual query designer supports joins and criteria, while the SQL editor supports parameterized queries. Forms cover data entry, editing, and navigation, and the report designer can export to PDF and web pages. KEXI also supports MySQL, MariaDB, and PostgreSQL connectivity, alongside CSV and clipboard import and export. These capabilities make it a practical fit for structured data editing, lightweight reporting, and projects that need both visual tools and direct SQL access.
The pricing model is straightforward: KEXI is free and open source, with one published plan that includes its visual designers, database connectivity, and CSV import and export. An Access migration assistant may help organizations moving from Microsoft Access. The trade-off is scope: KEXI is positioned as a visual database client, but its advanced client capabilities are limited, and it does not include AI features. The official product listing identifies KEXI 3.2.0, released in April 2019. Choose KEXI for free, open-source desktop database work across SQLite and common server databases; choose an alternative when advanced client capabilities are the primary requirement.
