KerioControl review
Combines remote-access and site-to-site VPN with firewall and network controls.
Reviewed by iTechGuides Editors · Editorial team · Updated Oct 2026
KerioControl combines a network security firewall with VPN access for remote users and whole networks. It is aimed at small and mid-market organizations that want to manage network protection alongside connections to local services, rather than buy a standalone VPN service. Deployment is self-hosted, with software, virtual, and hardware appliance options described by GFI Software. Its client platform coverage includes Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS, and Android.
VPN support spans Kerio VPN tunnels between Kerio Control firewalls, IPsec tunnels to third-party VPN gateways, and an OpenVPN server. OpenVPN client configuration can be exported, and authentication can use certificates. Administrators can view connected VPN clients on a dashboard. This mix makes the product relevant when remote access and site-to-site connectivity need to sit within the same firewall environment. Intrusion prevention, content filtering and activity reporting, and bandwidth management extend its scope beyond VPN connectivity.
According to the vendor's licensing guidance, purchase is through its portal or a reseller, and pricing is sales-led; a 30-day trial is available, but it is not a free plan. That buying model may be less convenient for teams seeking straightforward public pricing or a VPN-only product. Support channels listed for the product include documentation. KerioControl is a better fit for organizations choosing a firewall-centered network security tool with VPN tunnels than for buyers whose main requirement is a standalone VPN client or subscription.
