Kaspersky IoT Secure Gateway is a KasperskyOS-based platform for connecting operational-technology equipment and automation systems with corporate, cloud, and analytics platforms. It is aimed at industrial operators in settings such as manufacturing, energy, petrochemical, transport, smart cities, and the public sector. The gateway software is preconfigured for supported embedded hardware and can run on premises, making it a fit for mid-market and enterprise environments that need an industrial network boundary rather than a general-purpose IoT service.

Its most notable distinction is the choice between unidirectional data-diode operation for one-way telemetry transfer and router mode with a firewall and industrial-protocol filtering. The gateway also provides intrusion detection and prevention for industrial traffic, device discovery and categorization, event logging, monitoring, and notifications. MQTT brokering and sensor-message processing extend its role beyond traffic control. Support for protocols including Modbus, OPC UA, BACnet, DNP3, MMS, OMRON-FINS, ENIP/CIP, TriStation, and S7comm helps connect varied OT equipment; integrations also include cloud platforms and corporate MES/ERP systems.

Administration is centralized through Kaspersky Security Center, which is also the listed management integration. The platform supports secure installation and updates of third-party applications. Kaspersky's published product information directs commercial inquiries to Kaspersky/Aprotech contacts rather than presenting public plan prices. This contact-sales model and appliance-oriented deployment suit organizations planning an industrial gateway rollout with supported hardware and centralized oversight. Teams seeking a hosted service, or a gateway without the Kaspersky Security Center management dependency, should consider alternatives that better match those requirements.

Kaspersky IoT Secure Gateway pros and cons

  • Where it wins
    • Choose data-diode or router mode with firewall and protocol filtering.
    • Detect and prevent intrusions in industrial traffic.
    • Discover devices and manage the gateway through Kaspersky Security Center.
  • Where it doesn't
    • Deployment is self-hosted gateway software for supported embedded hardware.
    • Commercial availability is handled through Kaspersky/Aprotech contacts.
    • Centralized administration is tied to Kaspersky Security Center.
