Our verdict on Kamra PMS
Kamra PMS is open-source property management software for hotels, hospitality groups, villas, and other vacation rentals. Its scope spans front-desk work, reservations, guest folios, restaurant service, housekeeping, and direct bookings. Hotel operators seeking control over their hosting and access to a broad set of operational tools are the clearest fit; conventional long-term residential property managers should look for a product built around that workflow instead.
The Self-host plan is free forever and includes the complete PMS with every feature. That breadth covers a front-desk tape chart, arrivals board, group bookings, room blocks, folios, taxes, invoices, night audit, and per-property invoice series. Restaurant functions include POS, kitchen display, QR menus, and posting charges to rooms. Housekeeping task assignment, laundry, lost and found, and SLA escalation add operational depth. The direct booking page supports live rates and availability, promo codes, and add-ons, while multi-property tools include shared guest profiles and a portfolio dashboard. The vendor says there are no per-room charges or feature gates. Kamra Cloud is a hosted option with backups, updates, monitoring, and priority support; separate Implementation and Support AMC services cover setup, migration, training, and ongoing support functions.
Deployment is available in the cloud or through self-hosting under AGPL-3.0. Self-hosting provides the most direct control, but the operator is responsible for updates, backups, and the server. The product also lists integrations with hosting providers including Frappe Cloud, AWS, Azure, Hostinger, DigitalOcean, and Linode, alongside WhatsApp and MCP clients. Mobile coverage is web-only, so teams requiring dedicated mobile apps may prefer another option. Choose Kamra when hotel or vacation-rental operations, broad included functionality, and self-hosting matter most; consider an alternative for long-term residential portfolios or a native mobile workflow.
