Our verdict on JumpCloud Protect
JumpCloud Protect is a mobile authenticator for iOS and Android, designed for individuals using JumpCloud accounts and organizations managing multifactor authentication. The free authenticator app provides push-based sign-in approvals and denials, TOTP verification-code generation, QR-code scanning, and manual secret-key entry. It can support biometric, PIN, or passcode verification when required by an administrator, while push requests receive protection against repeated prompts within a 60-second timeout period. Apple Watch users can also receive and respond to push notifications.
The pricing structure separates the free app from JumpCloud's broader MFA service. The Free authenticator app includes Push MFA, TOTP verification codes, and iOS and Android apps. Multi-Factor Authentication — annual costs $3 per user per month with annual billing, while Multi-Factor Authentication — monthly costs $4 per user per month with monthly billing. Those paid plans provide the JumpCloud MFA service using JumpCloud Protect and other authentication methods, with administrator-managed enrollment and controls through the JumpCloud Admin Portal.
