JProfiler review
A broad Java and Kotlin profiler for deep JVM performance investigations.
Reviewed by iTechGuides Editors · Editorial team · Updated Oct 2026
JProfiler is a desktop profiler for Java Virtual Machines, designed for developers, QA teams, and production engineers investigating application performance and memory behavior. It covers CPU hotspots, allocations, leaks, threads, locks, database activity, HTTP traffic, and other JVM behavior. Support for Windows, macOS, and Linux, along with local and remote JVM analysis, makes it suitable for teams working across development and production environments.
Its main strength is breadth within the Java profiling workflow. CPU profiling combines sampling and instrumentation, while memory tools support heap analysis and leak investigation. Thread, monitor, lock, and deadlock analysis extend the view beyond application speed. Probes cover JDBC, JPA, HTTP, RPC, MongoDB, and Kafka, and the product can save and compare snapshots. Remote profiling through SSH and JVM attachment, plus JFR, HPROF, and PHD snapshot analysis, adds practical coverage for both live systems and recorded investigations.
The published plans show four paid license choices: a single license, a single license with one year of support and upgrades, a floating license, and a floating license with one year of support and upgrades. Each is perpetual, with floating options suited to shared access across a team. IDE integrations include IntelliJ IDEA, Eclipse, NetBeans, and Visual Studio Code, while Docker, Kubernetes, Spring, gRPC, RMI, and other listed technologies broaden its fit. JProfiler is a strong choice for teams that need detailed Java or Kotlin diagnostics and can work with desktop tooling; teams seeking a free plan or a profiler centered on other languages should choose another product.
