Joe Sandbox is a malware-analysis sandbox for security teams, CERTs, and incident responders. It executes files and URLs in controlled Windows, macOS, and Linux environments, then monitors application, operating-system, and network behavior. Its reports can include detections, indicators of compromise, screenshots, PCAP, and other evidence. The web service and API support investigations ranging from individual suspicious files to phishing pages and redirected URLs.

Its strongest area is the depth of analysis and the range of outputs. Automated execution is paired with URL, webpage, redirect, and phishing analysis; live interaction with analysis machines; IOC extraction; and network inspection that includes PCAP, HTTPS inspection, and IDS analysis. YARA, Sigma, Suricata, Hybrid Code Analysis, and Execution Graph Analysis extend the detection workflow. The REST API supports uploads, searches, filtering, alerts, and result downloads, while integrations with SOAR, SIEM, EDR, and Microsoft Sentinel make Joe Sandbox a fit for teams connecting sandbox results to broader response processes.

The freemium structure gives buyers a way to start with Cloud Basic, where samples and results are publicly shared, usage is limited to one user, and API and reporting capabilities are limited. Cloud Light adds private analyses and results, one user, 50 non-expiring analyses, HTML and PDF reports, and Windows analysis. Cloud Pro adds private analyses, a RESTful API for SOAR, SIEM, and EDR integration, Windows, macOS, and Linux analysis, and all reporting formats. Cloud Enterprise adds unlimited users, a RESTful API, private analyses, and single-tenant architecture. Joe Sandbox suits analysts who value detailed evidence and multiple detection formats; teams needing only lightweight file detonation or a simpler workflow may prefer a narrower tool.
