Jamendo API review
A broad music catalog API for exploration and non-commercial apps, not commercial stock licensing.

Jamendo API provides REST-like access to an independent-music catalog and related metadata, making it suited to developers exploring music data or building non-commercial applications. The API covers approximately half a million tracks, with methods for tracks, albums, artists, playlists, radios, charts, reviews, and user data. It is a music discovery and integration option rather than a commercial stock-music licensing route: attribution is required, and commercial licensing is explicitly false.
The plans distinguish access by use and capability. The Non-commercial apps plan includes access to the public API and whole library, analytics tools, and up to 35,000 API requests per month. A Read only plan provides all read API methods. The Read & Write plan adds write API methods for favorites, likes, dislikes, and user libraries, but access requires Jamendo approval; authenticated user actions require OAuth2. Commercial API use does not have a published fixed-price tier and requires contacting Jamendo for a quote. This structure fits exploration and read-heavy non-commercial integrations, while commercial projects need to resolve licensing before choosing the API.
Integration options include JSON, JSON-pretty, and XML responses, and application usage statistics are available through the developer portal. Applications use a client ID, with OAuth2 for user-authorized private or write operations. Jamendo documents support through email, community, and documentation. Developers needing catalog search, metadata, charts, or user-library methods can consider it; teams that need commercial stock licensing should choose an alternative with commercial rights rather than treating this API as a licensed stock source.
