iVentoy review
A focused, low-cost option for PXE booting and unattended OS installation.

iVentoy is a self-hosted PXE and HTTPBoot server for installing operating systems across multiple computers over a network. It runs on Windows and Linux servers, boots ISO files without extraction, and supports Legacy BIOS, multiple UEFI architectures, and Secure Boot. Its documented image support includes Windows, WinPE, Linux, Unix, and VMware images. The product is aimed at administrators who need network-based bare-metal deployment, unattended installation, and control over boot environments without a broader device-lifecycle platform.
Pricing is straightforward. The Free Edition is available for non-commercial use, supports a maximum of 20 clients, and has no usage time limit. The Pro Edition costs $49 as a one-time payment and adds commercial use, unlimited clients, ARM64 client and server support, LoongArch64 client support, and Matrix Boot. Both editions sit within a focused deployment model, while the Pro tier is the practical option for commercial environments or deployments requiring the additional architecture support.
iVentoy’s strongest area is deployment control at boot time. Administrators can use unattended Windows and Linux installation scripts, inject files and drivers into boot environments, and filter clients by MAC address or hardware architecture. Windows and Linux server packages support a range of operating-system images, and third-party DHCP server integration can fit an existing network setup. The trade-off is scope: iVentoy concentrates on network booting and OS installation rather than full lifecycle management. Choose it for low-cost PXE, HTTPBoot, ISO-based installation, and scripted deployment; choose an alternative when broader post-installation management is required.
