IRI FieldShield review
A field-level protection suite with broad execution options, but no threat detection.

IRI FieldShield is structured-data security software for discovering, classifying, and protecting sensitive information in relational databases, flat files, and other structured or semi-structured sources. It is designed for data architects, DBAs, developers, and compliance teams working with PII, PHI, payment data, test data, and privacy-regulated environments. Its protection scope includes field-level masking, encryption, hashing, redaction, pseudonymization, tokenization, and re-identification risk scoring.
The product’s strongest differentiator is the depth of its data-protection controls. It supports both static and dynamic masking, deterministic masking across data sources, XML audit logs, and masking job audit trails. Teams can run protection workflows through APIs, command-line tools, batch processes, SQL procedures, applications, or the IRI Workbench graphical interface. Integrations with IRI Voracity, IRI Ripcurrent, IRI CoSort, IRI RowGen, IRI DarkShield, Windocks, Actifio, Commvault, Amazon CodePipeline, Azure DevOps, GitLab, Jenkins, and Splunk support a broad platform and workflow fit.
According to the vendor’s pricing details, FieldShield uses a perpetual license model with low-five-figure first-copy pricing, and buyers are directed to request a quote. It is also included in IRI Voracity subscriptions. The published product scope is focused on data discovery, transformation, masking, and auditability rather than continuous security operations: activity monitoring and threat detection are not part of the listed category capabilities. Choose FieldShield when field-level de-identification and multiple execution methods are central requirements; consider another product when live activity monitoring or threat detection is the priority.
