InvoicePlane is an open-source, self-hosted application for managing clients, quotes, invoices and payments. It suits individuals and organizations that want basic accounts receivable workflows on their own server rather than a hosted service. Invoice statuses cover draft, sent, viewed, paid and overdue stages. Clients can use guest accounts to view invoices and payments, approve or reject quotes, and pay invoices online through Stripe. Manual payment entry and status updates are also supported.
Its feature set is focused on the core invoicing cycle. Users can create quotes and convert them into invoices, schedule recurring invoices weekly, monthly, quarterly, yearly or every six months, and customize PDF and email templates. CSV import supports clients, invoices, invoice items and payments. Stripe is the stated payment integration, while the default payment workflow does not specify whether customers can use cards, bank payments or both. The product does not include automated reminders or overdue reporting, so teams needing proactive collections workflows may require another option.
The main trade-off is control versus operational responsibility. InvoicePlane is downloaded and installed on the user’s own server, making it a fit for self-hosting users who want an open-source invoicing tool and are comfortable managing that environment.
