Intercom brings website and mobile-app messaging, AI-assisted conversations, human-agent chat, ticketing, and customer support tools into one platform. It is designed for support, sales, and ecommerce teams that need more than a basic chat widget, including visitor tracking, outbound messaging, help content, reporting, and omnichannel conversations across email, phone, SMS, WhatsApp, and social channels. Web, iOS, Android, and API access support teams working across customer-facing and custom application environments.

Pricing is organized into three paid tiers, with annual billing shown at $29 per seat per month for Essential, $85 for Advanced, and $132 for Expert. Essential includes Fin AI Agent, Messenger, a shared inbox and ticketing system, pre-built reports, and a public help center. Advanced adds multiple team inboxes, a workflow automation builder, round robin assignment, a private and multilingual help center, and 20 free Lite seats. Expert adds SSO and identity management, HIPAA support, service level agreements, multibrand Messenger and Help Center, and 50 free Lite seats. A 14-day free trial provides an evaluation period, but there is no free plan.

The platform’s main strength is breadth: AI automation can handle conversations before handing them to agents, while shared inboxes, tickets, workflow automation, visitor identification, and real-time reporting support a connected service operation. Its ecosystem includes 450+ apps and integrations, with named connections such as Salesforce, HubSpot, Jira, Linear, Asana, Shopify, Stripe, Slack, Facebook, and WhatsApp, plus APIs for custom integrations. Choose Intercom if your team needs advanced messaging and coordinated support workflows across channels. A narrower live chat tool may suit teams that want a simpler setup or a lower starting price.
