Intercept REST routes API and webhook traffic through a hosted edge proxy so developers can capture requests and responses before they are forwarded upstream. It is aimed at teams debugging API behavior, webhook integrations, and client requests, including workflows that need repeatable captures or controlled responses. The product does not require installing an agent or tunnel, and its documented surfaces include a web interface, API, and CLI. It is better understood as a request-debugging service than as a general-purpose local development proxy.

The Hobby plan is free and includes capture, inspection, and replay; response mocks and request overrides; CLI, public API, and MCP automation; and a recommended redaction policy. Mock rules can match method, URL or path, headers, and query values, with configurable response status, headers, and body. Requests can also be changed in transit through header injection and parameter edits. Captured data includes headers, payloads, status, and latency, and replay extends to webhook events. Integrations listed include Stripe, Shopify, Twilio, GitHub, Slack, and Clerk. These capabilities suit developers who need to inspect and reproduce service interactions rather than alter local application infrastructure.

The Developer tier is described as coming soon, with a higher planned request allowance, team-oriented workflows, and self-service billing when available. Enterprise adds custom request allowance, organization workspaces, and a rollout and support agreement, with security and retention requirements reviewed. A key boundary is that HTTPS interception is not verified: traffic travels through the hosted endpoint, but the product is not established as a tool for decrypting arbitrary HTTPS sessions. Choose Intercept REST for API and webhook capture, mocking, and automation; teams needing localhost tunneling or general HTTPS-session inspection should look elsewhere.

Intercept REST pros and cons

  • Where it wins
    • Capture and replay API requests and webhook events with latency and payload details
    • Create response mocks and modify requests with header and parameter overrides
    • Redact sensitive values across dashboard, streams, CLI output, and copied context
  • Where it doesn't
    • Does not verify TLS decryption or inspection of arbitrary HTTPS sessions
    • Uses a hosted edge endpoint rather than a localhost tunnel or conventional local proxy
    • Developer plan is coming soon; Enterprise pricing is custom
