Our verdict on imagic

imagic is a desktop photo culling and RAW-editing application for photographers who need more than basic keep-or-reject decisions. It analyzes sharpness, exposure, noise, composition, detail, and subject focus, while also detecting closed eyes, grouping faces, and organizing burst sequences and near-duplicates. Photos are processed locally, with support for major RAW formats, reversible review statuses, manual editing, batch export, and Lightroom XMP handoff. Windows, macOS, Linux, web, and API access are listed, giving technical users several deployment options.

The published plans use one-time pricing. imagic Lite costs €19 and includes AI culling, duplicate and burst detection, manual editing, local adjustments, presets, LUTs, color grades, and batch export on a RAW pipeline. Plus costs €49 and adds AI masking for subjects, sky, people, and backgrounds, along with heal, clone, content-aware removal, portrait polish, lens blur, and watermarking. Max costs €99 and adds the built-in MCP server, headless CLI, style calibration, neural denoise, super-resolution, and CLIP semantic search. A 7-day free trial is available, but there is no free plan.

Its strongest distinction is the combination of detailed image analysis and automation. The MCP server and CLI connect imagic with Claude, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Codex, Gemini CLI, and Windsurf, while Lightroom XMP supports an established editing workflow. That breadth suits photographers and technical teams that want local processing, batch decisions, and programmable control in one product. Users seeking only a simple culling tool may find the editing tiers and automation surface broader than necessary, while those needing MCP, CLI, or semantic search must choose Max.
