Our verdict on IDmelon

IDmelon is a passwordless authentication and multi-factor authentication platform for organizations managing frontline users, shared workstations, kiosks, Windows devices, websites, applications, VPNs, legacy systems, or federated single sign-on. It turns ID badges, NFC cards, key fobs, smartphones, fingerprints, and Face ID into managed FIDO2 security keys or passkeys. Deployment options include SaaS, private cloud, and on-premises infrastructure, making it a fit for teams that need badge-based access across mixed environments.

Pricing uses a contact-sales model, while the published offer includes a 14-day trial. The product is not positioned around a self-serve free plan or publicly itemized tiers. Its value is instead concentrated in administrative controls: automated security-key assignment, onboarding and activation, user and key lifecycle management, conditional access based on IP address, key type, time, device, and relying party, plus audit-log and authentication-activity access through the Admin Panel REST API. Organizations should expect to define factor, device, and access policies as part of deployment.

IDmelon has broad ecosystem coverage, including Microsoft Entra ID, Active Directory Federation Services, Okta, Ping Identity, Google Workspace, Salesforce, ServiceNow, Citrix, VMware Horizon, CyberArk, Duo, OneLogin, and AWS. SAML 2.0, OIDC, REST API access, and custom SAML application integration support connections beyond those named platforms. The strongest fit is an organization seeking passwordless badge or smartphone access for Windows, shared devices, kiosks, and varied identity environments. Teams wanting a simple, consumer-style authenticator or transparent plan pricing should consider a narrower alternative.
