IBM Aspera on Cloud is a SaaS service for transferring and exchanging large files and data sets across on-premises, hybrid, and multi-cloud storage. It is aimed at organizations handling content delivery, collaboration, migration, and data movement across distributed environments. Core capabilities include high-speed FASP transfers, file and folder sharing, packages for multiple recipients, configurable permissions, centralized administration, activity monitoring, reporting, and REST API access.
Pricing is structured for different transfer and storage needs. The Free 14-day trial includes up to 50 GB of transfer volume, Standard Plus features, 10 TB of monthly storage, and 100 TB of egress; the trial ends after 14 days or 50 GB, whichever comes first. Pay As You Go costs $1.07 per GB of transfer per month, with egress included, one workspace, and one transfer server. Essentials Edition costs $22.10 per month and includes 1 TB of monthly storage, 10 TB of egress, one workspace, and one file deletion policy. Standard Plus costs $660 per month and adds 10 TB of monthly storage, 100 TB of egress, up to five workflows, and up to 100 workspaces.
Its platform fit is a major consideration for enterprise environments. The service supports web, Windows, macOS, Linux, and API access, with connectivity to IBM Cloud, Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, IBM Aspera Transfer Service, and on-premises storage. Automated transfer capacity is available through Aspera Transfer Service, while the RESTful platform API covers users, permissions, transfers, and reporting. Choose IBM Aspera on Cloud when high-speed movement and administrative control across distributed storage matter more than entry-level cost. Smaller teams with modest transfer volumes may prefer a simpler service with less tiered capacity planning.
