HYPE is a free mobile social app for school classmates to give and receive anonymous positive recognition through polls. Users verify a supported school, build a circle of friends and classmates, answer prompts, and receive selected compliments in an Inbox. The app also includes profiles, friend requests, friends-of-friends discovery, contact invitations, notifications, an Activity feed, Coins, Shop, Random Boost, Crush Boost, blocking, and account safety controls. Its current school-contained pilot is focused on McNair, making it most relevant to eligible students and school communities using iPhone.

The app’s main strength is its narrow social format. Positive polls use four answer choices, while received HYPE is presented with an anonymous sender format.
