Hybrid Analysis is a web-based malware analysis service for security researchers, incident responders, forensic teams, CERTs, and threat intelligence providers. Users can submit files or URLs for static, dynamic, or hybrid analysis in an isolated environment. Reports include behavioral indicators, network activity, threat scores, and extracted indicators of compromise. The service also supports archive and file-collection analysis, giving teams several ways to examine suspicious content without limiting submissions to individual files.

Its strongest fit is malware triage and threat hunting. Network activity and contacted-domain or IP searches help investigators examine infrastructure, while public search, YARA hunting, and string search support broader investigation workflows. The REST API covers submissions, searches, and report retrieval, and the published integrations include VirusTotal, OPSWAT Metadefender, SIEM systems, Suricata, TOR, and Phantom. That combination suits teams that need both an interactive web interface and repeatable analysis workflows through an API.

The public service is free and community-oriented, but it is not positioned as a full replacement for a separately licensed enterprise sandbox. The public offering does not provide paid tiers, and its API access is restricted. Teams that need expanded capacity, privacy options, or cloud and on-premises deployment should consider CrowdStrike Falcon Sandbox licensing instead. Hybrid Analysis is the clearer choice for free cloud-based investigation, URL and file analysis, IOC extraction, and hunting features; organizations requiring broader deployment control or expanded service capacity should look elsewhere.

  • Where it doesn't
    • The public service has no paid tiers
    • API access is restricted
    • Expanded capacity, privacy, and deployment options require separate licensing
