Huawei Cloud WAF is a managed web application firewall for websites, web services, and APIs. It inspects HTTP and HTTPS traffic and protects against common threats including SQL injection, cross-site scripting, command injection, file inclusion, and webshell activity. The service suits Huawei Cloud users that need managed rules, configurable access policies, CC attack prevention, bot and crawler controls, or a choice between cloud and dedicated deployment.

Its protection scope is broad. Managed rules address common web attacks and OWASP Top 10 threats, while configurable policies can use IP addresses, URLs, headers, cookies, parameters, and referers. CC attack protection includes request-rate controls, and bot and crawler detection adds another layer for application traffic. Huawei Cloud WAF also supports website, domain, and IP protection, IPv6 protection in the Professional and Platinum editions, and event monitoring with log export through Log Tank Service. WAF APIs cover domains, policies, rules, certificates, and events.

The published editions are Standard, Professional, and Platinum. Standard includes common web attack protection, zero-day protection rule updates, CC attack prevention, and web page tampering protection. Professional and Platinum add website anti-crawler protection and IPv6 protection, while the product description notes different domain and request-rate quotas across editions. There is no free plan. Console protection-event logs are retained for up to 30 days; longer retention requires Log Tank Service. Choose Huawei Cloud WAF when its deployment modes, policy controls, and Huawei Cloud integrations fit your environment. Consider another option if you need a free tier or retention beyond the console limit without an additional service.
