Huawei Cloud Graph Engine Service (GES) is a managed graph database service for querying and analyzing multi-relational graph data. It is aimed at teams working with knowledge graphs, recommendations, social-network analysis, financial risk control, fraud detection, urban infrastructure, and enterprise IT. GES is delivered through a web management console and HTTPS APIs, with support for Gremlin, Cypher, and DSL queries. Its cloud deployment model fits organizations that want graph capabilities within Huawei Cloud rather than a self-managed installation.

GES’s strongest area is graph exploration and analysis. Users can visually explore graphs and visualize query results, while built-in algorithms cover PageRank, K-core, shortest path, label propagation, triangle count, and link prediction. The service also supports dynamic graph analysis, graph creation and management, backups, metadata management, and APIs for queries, metrics, algorithms, and administration. Fine-grained permissions for graph labels and properties add control over access to graph content. Together, these features make GES a fit for teams that need both exploratory analysis and operational graph management.

Its ecosystem fit is clearest for organizations already working with Huawei Cloud and the listed data sources. GES supports migration from MySQL, Oracle, ShenTong MPP, DWS, and Hive, with Object Storage Service (OBS) included among its integrations. The service is paid, and its cloud-only delivery may not suit teams that require self-hosted deployment. Choose GES when visual graph exploration, multiple query languages, built-in algorithms, and Huawei Cloud alignment are priorities. Consider another option when deployment flexibility outside the cloud or a different integration landscape matters more.
