HPE Intelligent Management Center is licensed network management software for enterprises and branch networks managing wired and wireless infrastructure. It centralizes fault, configuration, performance, accounting, and security management across HPE and third-party devices. The platform is suited to teams that want classic network management controls in a web-based system available on Windows and Linux, rather than a narrowly focused monitoring tool.

Its feature coverage spans network discovery, topology mapping, configuration and change management, scheduled configuration backups, device performance monitoring, alarms, and centralized reporting. Policy enforcement and compliance checking add governance controls, while VLAN and ACL management support day-to-day network administration. The included RESTful eAPI library provides an integration path for automation and external systems. The 50-node base license includes 50 managed devices, with additional node licenses available as the environment grows.

HPE Intelligent Management Center also fits organizations using HPE Aruba Networking AirWave, HPE ClearPass, or HPE OneView, with integrations for those products. Its on-premises deployment model may suit teams that want network management software maintained within their own infrastructure, but it is less appropriate for buyers seeking a cloud-first service or a lightweight tool for a small, narrowly defined monitoring need. Choose it when centralized discovery, configuration control, backups, compliance, reporting, and device expansion matter together; consider an alternative when deployment simplicity or a smaller operational scope is the priority.

HPE Intelligent Management Center pros and cons

  • Where it wins
    • Discovers devices and maps network topology
    • Manages configurations, backups, VLANs, and ACLs
    • Supports HPE and third-party devices with RESTful eAPI access
  • Where it doesn't
    • Requires on-premises deployment
    • The base license covers 50 managed devices
    • Additional node licenses are needed for expansion
