HostGator Web Hosting review
Linux shared hosting with cPanel, SSH access and tiered storage and website limits.

HostGator Web Hosting provides Linux-based shared hosting for individuals, small businesses, organizations and web professionals. Its shared plans combine cPanel, SSD storage, SSL certificates, unmetered bandwidth, SSH access, email accounts and one-click WordPress installation. The offer is aimed at people who want conventional shared hosting and a familiar control panel, rather than server resources managed independently through VPS or dedicated hosting.
The three shared plans differ in website and storage allowances. Hatchling includes 10 GB of SSD storage and supports 10 websites; Baby raises those limits to 20 GB and 20 websites; Business provides 50 GB and 50 websites. Each plan lists cPanel, a one-click WordPress installer, unlimited email accounts and weekly backups. HostGator also lists Cloudflare and Softaculous among its integrations. The plan structure gives small site portfolios room to grow within shared hosting, while the website and storage caps make the tier choice relevant from the start.
Backups need particular attention: weekly backups apply only to eligible shared accounts under HostGator's stated size and inode limits, so they should not be treated as an unconditional safeguard. This is a reasonable fit for basic Linux sites that value cPanel and SSH access alongside WordPress installation and email hosting. Buyers who need more control over server resources, or whose backup needs exceed the stated eligibility limits, should compare HostGator's VPS or dedicated hosting options or consider another service. Its shared plans keep the setup focused on common website needs, but do not remove the need to check account limits against a site's requirements.
