Hopr review
A focused choice for identity-based microsharding across cloud and on-premises workloads.

Hopr provides workload security proxy sidecars and preconfigured Kubernetes application-network blueprints for DevOps and platform teams. Its controls cover workload identity verification at communication sessions, high-frequency credential rotation, application-layer microsegmentation, encrypted workload communication without key exchange, API key abuse prevention, and runtime microsharding. The product is aimed at organizations protecting APIs, containers, virtual machines, and multi-cloud workloads, with a particular fit for teams that want identity-based rules across hybrid environments.
The published plans offer several ways to buy the product. Lane7 Blueprints is free and includes preconfigured Kubernetes application-network blueprints, microsegmentation, and free email and chat support. Korvette-S WoSPs costs $35 per active WoSP per month and includes 1 billion sessions per WoSP, unlimited workloads, microsegmentation, and the same support options. Enterprise Ultra adds unlimited sessions, unlimited workloads, custom CHIPS algorithms, and done-for-you setup. PAYG is priced at $0.0012 per session, while Contract is priced at $0.001 per session. A 30-day free trial is also available.
Hopr’s strongest distinction is the depth of its workload-focused controls: identity is checked during communication sessions, credentials rotate frequently, and runtime microsharding adds a moving-target defense layer. Kubernetes users can start from application-network blueprints, while cloud and on-premises deployment supports a mixed workload environment. The trade-off is a focused architecture centered on Workload Security Proxy sidecars rather than broad platform coverage. Teams seeking identity-based workload microsegmentation, encrypted service communication, and runtime sharding should consider Hopr. Organizations that do not use proxy-based workloads or need a wider security platform may prefer an alternative.

- Runtime microsharding covers cloud and on-premises workloads
- Where it doesn't
- Coverage centers on proxy-based workloads
- Enterprise Ultra pricing is not shown as a fixed amount
- PAYG and Contract rates use session-based pricing
