HoneyBook brings client and project management together with proposals, contracts, scheduling, invoicing, and payments. Its visual project pipeline and lead forms are designed for independent service professionals and small businesses that manage a sales process as well as client work. If invoicing is one step in a larger client relationship workflow, HoneyBook offers a wider toolkit; businesses seeking a tool centered narrowly on billing may find that breadth unnecessary.

The published annual-billing plans start with Starter at $29 per month. It includes unlimited clients and projects, invoices and payments, proposals and contracts, a client portal, basic reports, and HoneyBook AI. Essentials is $49 per month and adds scheduling, automations, QuickBooks Online integration, SMS reminders, and up to two team members. Premium costs $109 per month and adds unlimited team members, priority support, multiple companies, advanced reports, and unlimited live lead forms. A 30-day free trial is available. The step up from Starter is most relevant when scheduling, automation, or the QuickBooks integration is needed; Premium is aimed at larger team or multi-company needs.

HoneyBook also offers email sync with Gmail, Outlook, iCloud, Yahoo, and AOL, plus integrations including Zapier, Zoom, Canva, Calendly, Flodesk, Prismm, and Pic-Time. AI features include email drafts, project recaps, and meeting notes. Access is available on the web and native iOS and Android apps, giving this workflow suite reach across desktop and mobile. These capabilities make it a stronger fit for service businesses that want lead handling, project coordination, and billing connected in one place. Freelancers who mainly need to send invoices and collect payments should compare more focused invoicing software, particularly if the additional client-management workflow would go unused.

HoneyBook pros and cons

  • Where it wins
    • Combines invoices and payments with proposals, contracts, and client portals
    • Visual project pipeline links lead capture to client and project management
    • Web, iOS, and Android access plus email and QuickBooks integrations
  • Where it doesn't
    • Annual-billing Starter costs $29 per month, above an invoicing-only focus
    • Scheduler and automations require Essentials at $49 per month
    • Premium costs $109 per month for unlimited team members and advanced features
