Hololight Stream review
A deployment-flexible pixel-streaming platform for delivering demanding XR applications across devices.

Hololight Stream is an enterprise pixel-streaming solution for organizations delivering augmented, virtual or mixed reality applications to varied XR devices. It renders applications on local workstations, servers, private clouds or public clouds, then sends encrypted pixels to supported headsets and other clients. Mid-market and enterprise teams can use it for high-detail industrial visualization, centralized delivery and device flexibility, while developers can connect Unity, Unreal Engine or OpenXR applications through the provided SDK and runtime tools.
The published commercial model is contact-sales, with no free commercial plan. Hololight states that the SDK is free to explore with a watermark, so evaluation access differs from production licensing. Deployment can be cloud, private-cloud or on-premises, giving organizations options for infrastructure control and data handling. Encrypted pixel transmission and retaining application data on the organization’s infrastructure support scenarios where centralized control matters. Hololight Hub integration adds centralized management for applications, users, devices and sessions.
Its ecosystem covers Unity, Unreal Engine, NVIDIA Omniverse, Autodesk VRED, KeyShot, Blender, Godot, Unigine, ParaView, Twinmotion and FreeCAD. Clients support Meta Quest 2, 3, 3S and Pro; HTC VIVE Focus 3, Focus Vision and XR Elite; Microsoft HoloLens 2; PICO 4 Ultra Enterprise; Snap Spectacles; Apple Vision Pro; iOS/iPadOS; desktop; and web. That breadth suits teams with mixed hardware estates or existing 3D software investments. Choose Stream when centralized pixel streaming, deployment control and broad client coverage are priorities. Smaller teams seeking transparent self-serve pricing or a conventional free commercial tier should consider a narrower, simpler tool instead.
Hololight Stream pros and cons
- Where it wins
- Streams rendered AR/VR pixels to headsets, web, desktop and mobile clients
- Unity, Unreal and OpenXR SDK options support application integration
- Cloud, private-cloud and on-premises deployments keep data on controlled infrastructure
- Where it doesn't
- Commercial pricing requires contacting Hololight
- The SDK is available to explore with a watermark, not as a free commercial plan
- Enterprise-oriented scope may exceed the needs of smaller XR projects
