Holland Backup is an open-source, self-hosted database backup framework for teams managing Linux infrastructure. Its plugin-based command-line design supports MySQL, MariaDB, PostgreSQL and MongoDB, while backup sets let administrators define database or table scope. It is suited to technical teams that want configurable database backups without adopting a hosted service.

Database coverage is the main strength. MySQL backups can use mysqldump or LVM snapshots, PostgreSQL supports pg_dump and pg_basebackup, and MongoDB uses mongodump. Inclusion and exclusion rules help narrow the backup scope, while compression, database locking, retention and purge policies shape how backups are created and maintained. Before-, after- and failed-backup shell hooks also provide control around backup workflows. For MySQL, binary-log position recording supports point-in-time recovery workflows.

Holland Backup favors control over managed convenience. Installation and operation take place on infrastructure managed by the user, with configuration handled through its command-line system. That model can fit administrators who already maintain Linux database environments and need custom backup sets, hooks or retention rules. It is less suitable for organizations seeking a hosted backup service, a cross-platform deployment model or a guided graphical workflow. Teams should also assess how their recovery process will handle verification, since restore-verification behavior is not part of the product description.
