Hetzner Cloud Load Balancer is a managed Layer 4 and Layer 7 service for distributing traffic across cloud servers and dedicated root servers. It suits teams running compact Hetzner Cloud deployments that need TCP, HTTP, or HTTPS handling without operating a self-managed balancing layer. TLS termination, active and passive health checks, automatic failover, high availability, private network support, and Proxy Protocol support cover the core needs of application traffic distribution.

The published plans use hourly billing with monthly caps, and availability and currency can vary by location. LB11 includes 5 services, 25 targets, 10 SSL certificates, and 20 TB of included traffic. LB21 raises those limits to 15 services, 75 targets, and 25 SSL certificates while retaining 20 TB of included traffic. LB31 provides 30 services, 150 targets, and 50 SSL certificates, also with 20 TB of included traffic. The three-tier structure gives growing deployments more service, target, and certificate capacity, but there is no free plan.

Platform fit is strongest inside the Hetzner ecosystem. The Hetzner Cloud API supports automation, while Kubernetes integration connects the load balancer to containerized deployments. Round Robin and Least Connections algorithms provide two routing choices, and targets can be routed across locations within the same network zone. This is a focused option rather than a broadly cloud-agnostic traffic platform: teams with workloads outside Hetzner Cloud, or requirements beyond the stated 25-backend limit, should consider an alternative with broader infrastructure coverage. Choose it for managed balancing within Hetzner Cloud; look elsewhere when portability is the priority.
