Help to RTF is Windows desktop software for turning compiled Windows help files into editable or printable RTF documents. It is aimed at developers, maintainers and documentation teams recovering legacy help projects compiled with HC31, HCP.EXE, HCRTF.EXE or the Multimedia Viewer compiler. The converter handles the documentation itself along with related assets and project information, making it suitable when the original source files are unavailable or need to be restored for further editing.

Licensing is organized into two paid options. The Standard license is for a single user, while the Network (Site) license is intended for network or site use. The conversion scope goes beyond extracting text: associated BMP, WMF, SHG and HPJ files can be included, embedded window bitmaps and controls become inline images, and keywords are converted into indexes and references. Recovery of original project settings adds value for teams that need to rebuild or maintain an older help system rather than produce a one-off text export.

Automation is supported through command-line file processing, which can fit repeatable conversion jobs on Windows machines. Deployment remains desktop-based, with no cloud conversion or API access described, so hosted or cross-platform pipelines are outside its focus. Its narrow support for compiled Windows help formats is a strength for legacy documentation recovery but a limitation for broader file-conversion requirements. Choose Help to RTF when preserving structure, assets and project settings from these specific help outputs matters; choose a more general converter for mixed modern document formats or non-Windows environments.
