Our verdict on Gyroflow

Gyroflow is free, open-source post-processing software for stabilizing footage with logged gyroscope and optional accelerometer data. It is aimed at cinematography, drone and aerial videography, action cameras, mirrorless cameras, and cinema cameras. Native applications cover Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, and iOS, making it suitable for creators who want local stabilization across desktop and mobile platforms without a paid plan.

Its standout strength is the depth of its correction and control options. Gyroflow combines gyro-based stabilization with horizon leveling, per-axis smoothing, rolling-shutter correction, lens distortion correction, and lens calibration. It supports 10-bit video and up to 16-bit video processing, along with variable and high frame-rate video. GPU processing, hardware-accelerated playback, and a render queue support larger or multi-file workflows. The trade-off is that the workflow depends on usable motion data and configuration of smoothing, lens, and correction settings, so it is a weaker fit for footage without compatible gyro information or for users seeking automatic live stabilization.

Gyroflow also fits established editing workflows through plugins for DaVinci Resolve, Adobe Premiere, Adobe After Effects, and Final Cut Pro. Its command-line interface adds an option for scripted or repeatable processing, while local processing keeps the workflow on the supported device. Choose Gyroflow if you need free stabilization with detailed control, broad platform coverage, motion-data support, and editor integration. Choose another option if your priority is live stabilization, a workflow that does not rely on motion logs, or a simpler process with fewer technical decisions.
