Our verdict on Guru Maps
Guru Maps is a mobile mapping and navigation app for travelers and outdoor users who want maps and navigation available without an internet connection. It supports offline vector map downloads by country or region, search for addresses and points of interest in downloaded areas, and voice-guided turn-by-turn navigation when the required map and navigation data are saved. The free plan makes it relevant to people seeking offline map access, while Pro access is offered through subscription and one-time purchase options.
Offline use is the central strength, with city, cycling, and hiking map styles, plus route planning for multiple stops and waypoints. Users can record GPS tracks, monitor trip metrics, and save locations as markers organized into collections. The app supports importing and exporting GPS files, including GPX, KML, and GeoJSON. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto provide in-car platform compatibility, while the documented platform range covers iOS, Android, and Mac support through Mac Catalyst. Maps are built from OpenStreetMap data.
The practical trade-off is that offline navigation requires downloading the relevant maps and navigation data in advance. Guru Maps offers free and paid Pro access, but its official pages reviewed do not publish prices, so buyers comparing paid options should check current purchase terms directly. Email is the listed support channel, and a 30-day refund period is offered. Choose Guru Maps if offline search, outdoor map styles, route planning, and GPS file handling matter; look elsewhere if you need a broader desktop platform range or want published pricing to compare before deciding.
