Gravitee API Gateway is a runtime gateway and policy engine for organizations managing APIs across REST, GraphQL, gRPC, SOAP, WebSocket, server-sent events, webhooks, and event brokers. It fits hybrid enterprises that need centralized policy management across distributed API estates, with support for cloud-hosted, self-hosted, and hybrid deployments. Core capabilities cover authentication, authorization, rate limiting, traffic management, transformation, routing, caching, threat protection, analytics, and observability.

The pricing structure starts with a free offering through Gravitee Community Edition, alongside a 14-day free trial. The Planet plan costs $2,500 per month and includes unlimited users, unlimited APIs under management, one production gateway, Gold support, and Agent Catalog. Galaxy adds two production gateways, hybrid or managed deployment, a consumption model option, and Gold support, while Universe provides four or more production gateways, unlimited enterprise functionality, Identity and Access Management, and 24/7 support. Galaxy and Universe use contact-based pricing.

Protocol breadth is the defining strength. Gravitee can mediate between synchronous and asynchronous systems and supports OAuth 2.0, JWT, mTLS, API keys, OIDC, and SAML, plus configurable rate limits and per-consumer traffic controls. Caching, retries, circuit breakers, IP filtering, CORS, OAS validation, and OpenTelemetry export extend its operational coverage. Integrations include AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, Kubernetes, Kafka, MQTT, Solace, RabbitMQ, Datadog, Grafana, and Splunk. Choose it when one gateway must cover varied protocols, deployment models, and enterprise controls. A narrower tool may suit teams that only need a simpler REST gateway.
