Grafana Alerting review
Flexible multi-source alert management for Grafana-centered teams.
Reviewed by iTechGuides Editors · Editorial team · Updated Oct 2026
Grafana Alerting helps teams create, manage, route, group, silence, and deliver alerts from metrics and logs across multiple data sources. It is available in Grafana OSS for self-managed deployments and in Grafana Cloud as a managed service. Monitoring teams already centered on Grafana can use it to bring alert rules and notification handling together; teams seeking a standalone workflow outside that ecosystem may find its fit less direct.
Its alerting workflow covers both Grafana-managed rules, built with queries and expressions, and externally generated alerts. Notification policies route alerts by labels and group similar alerts into notification groups, while contact points deliver notifications. Annotations and labels add context, and templates allow configurable notification messages. Silences and mute timings support temporary suppression, while high-availability alert evaluation and delivery address continuity. Integrations include Slack, PagerDuty, Jira, email, and Grafana Cloud IRM.
The Free plan is always free and includes community support, with a limit of 3 active IRM users per month. Grafana Cloud Pro is listed at $20 per active IRM user monthly; the published plan also notes self-serve access and automatic volume discounts. Enterprise has custom pricing, premium support, and deployment flexibility. Choose Grafana Alerting if multi-source rules, label-based routing, and control over notification handling are priorities within a Grafana environment. Teams that need paid support should compare the Enterprise offer, while buyers preferring a simpler alert-only tool may find this feature set broader than they need.
