GPXSee is a free, GPLv3-licensed GPS log file viewer and analyzer for people who need to inspect tracks, routes, waypoints, areas, and related geographic data. It runs on Windows, macOS, Linux, and Android, making it suitable for outdoor mapping, GPS review, fitness data inspection, and lightweight geographic file viewing. The application opens GPX, TCX, FIT, KML, NMEA, IGC, GeoJSON, and many other formats, while also supporting multiple tracks and points of interest in one view.

Its strongest feature is the combination of map and activity-data support. GPXSee can use configurable online map sources through tile, WMS, WMTS, TMS, and QuadTiles, and it can work with offline sources such as MBTiles, PMTiles, Garmin maps, Mapsforge, GeoTIFF, and world-file georeferenced images. Elevation, speed, heart-rate, cadence, power, temperature, and gear-shift graphs add useful context to recorded tracks. DEM elevation data, hillshading, real-time GPS position, and PNG or PDF export extend the viewer beyond simple file inspection.

The product is deliberately narrow in scope. Its published capabilities do not include spatial analysis, web mapping, or dashboard building, so it is not suited to users who need a broader GIS workspace for geoprocessing, interactive browser maps, or operational dashboards. Choose GPXSee when free desktop or Android software for viewing GPS and geographic data is the priority, especially when offline maps, varied file formats, and activity graphs matter. Choose a different GIS product when analysis tools or web-based map publishing are central requirements.

    • Does not offer web mapping or dashboard-building features
    • Its focus is viewing and analyzing GPS data, not full GIS workflows
