Our verdict on Google AppSheet
Google AppSheet is a no-code application development platform for business apps and workflow automation. It lets teams start with existing data, templates, or an idea, then configure tables, galleries, charts, maps, dashboards, forms, checklists, barcode capture, locations, signatures, and photos. The platform supports web, iOS, Android, and API use, with native mobile publishing and a built-in AppSheet database. It is a strong fit for organizations turning operational data into internal tools, field workflows, and connected business applications without writing code.
Pricing is organized around both user-based and app-based plans. The free plan supports prototype development, testing, or personal use, including testing with up to 10 users at no cost. Starter costs $5 per user per month and includes basic application and automation features, the AppSheet database, and spreadsheet and cloud file storage connectors. Core costs $10 per user per month and adds advanced application and automation features, application security controls, and email customer support. Enterprise Plus costs $20 per user per month and adds advanced integrations and enterprise data services, enhanced security, team management and governance, machine learning modeling, and priority customer support. Publisher Pro costs $50 per app per month for publicly accessible apps with unlimited users and no sign-in requirement.
Its strongest practical advantage is breadth across data capture, automation, security, and mobile operation. AppSheet can send email, SMS, and push notifications, trigger webhooks and scripts, apply authentication and security filters, and continue working offline with background synchronization. Integrations include Google Sheets, Drive, Forms, Calendar, Docs, Gmail, Chat, and Apps Script, alongside Microsoft Excel, Dropbox, Box, Salesforce, Smartsheet, Airtable, and Cloud SQL. Buyers needing AppSheet API access must choose Enterprise Plus, while teams seeking only simple public-facing apps may find Publisher Pro’s app-based pricing less suitable. Choose AppSheet for data-driven business processes; look elsewhere if the goal is a narrowly focused public app at minimal cost.
